Hi guys, I'm getting the following (not very descriptive) error while refreshing my semantic model in fabric PBI: Data source error: We found an unexpected character in the JSON input.. The exception was raised by the IDataReader interface. Please review the error message and provider documentation for further information and corrective action. Table: Web Site Data. Cluster URI: WABI-EUROPE-NORTH-B-redirect.analysis.windows.net Activity ID: eb32293c-4bc5-41a5-9980-7a28bc630e16 Request ID: c3de247d-980b-4f79-2e53-9cc75b832ec8 Time: 2025-04-30 15:03:41Z I'm not very experienced with PBI and there were no recent changes in this model, so I have no idea where to look... Any directions? Cheers, LuukSolved1.7KViews0likes4CommentsPower BI Report Server Branding Issue
Server Version: 1.20.8926.40580 (May 2024) Issue: A while back we investigated changing the branding on the server using the Multicolored example brand zip file seen here. After creating the new branding package and successfully deploying it we noticed that one element refused to change with the new branding colours ("Primary" and "PrimaryAlt") which shows as #117865 (dark green) instead of #e71f85 (pink) Reverting the server back to default branding doesn't alter it either, as if the link between the two is broken. Once reverted back you can see the green remains. All the elements in the json file were accounted for to make sure this colour wasn't in there. Here's the JSON: "name":"Multicolored example brand", "version":"1.0", "interface":{ "primary":"#e71f85", "primaryAlt":"#ffffff", "primaryAlt2":"#0080c9", "primaryAlt3":"#009ad4", "primaryAlt4":"#ffffff", "primaryContrast":"#000000", "secondary":"#0c499c", "secondaryAlt":"#0c499c", "secondaryAlt2":"#0080c9", "secondaryAlt3":"#ffffff", "secondaryContrast":"#ffffff", "neutralPrimary":"#F2F9FE", "neutralPrimaryAlt":"#ffffff", "neutralPrimaryAlt2":"#b1d7ee", "neutralPrimaryAlt3":"#0c499c", "neutralPrimaryContrast":"#0c499c", "neutralSecondary":"#F2F9FE", "neutralSecondaryAlt":"#ffffff", "neutralSecondaryAlt2":"#ffffff", "neutralSecondaryAlt3":"#e71f85", "neutralSecondaryContrast":"#000000", "neutralTertiary":"#ffffff", "neutralTertiaryAlt":"#ffffff", "neutralTertiaryAlt2":"#ffffff", "neutralTertiaryAlt3":"#ffffff", "neutralTertiaryContrast":"#000000", "danger":"#e60000", "success":"#3fae29", "warning":"#ffd000", "info":"#0c499c", "dangerContrast":"#ffffff", "successContrast":"#ffffff", "warningContrast":"#ffffff", "infoContrast":"#ffffff", "kpiGood":"#3fae29", "kpiBad":"#e60000", "kpiNeutral":"#ffd000", "kpiNone":"#0c499c", "kpiGoodContrast":"#ffffff", "kpiBadContrast":"#ffffff", "kpiNeutralContrast":"#ffffff", "kpiNoneContrast":"#ffffff", "itemTypeIconColor":"#ffffff", "reportIconBackground":"#009ad4", "excelIconBackground":"#009ad4", "folderIconBackground":"#009ad4", "datasetIconBackground":"#009ad4", "otherIconBackground":"#0c499c" } } Another poster had a similar issue which was fixed when they upgraded their version of report server to the January 2023 Release. Since our version is newer (May 2024) that hasn't resolved it. Any ideas where to go next? Thanks in advance Tim SOLUTION: Added this additional code to the colors.json file. Hi all After updating our Power BI Server On Premise we have the problem, that the report names are not displayed in the color we defined in our branding json-file. After the update the color is now #0C695A: What we have to define in the branding json-file to overwrite this color #0C695A? Thanks, kind regards Pierre822Views0likes2CommentsNew Shapes in PBI - How to Setup JSON?
Hi There, with the may 2021 release of PBIRS we also got the new shapes feature with desktop which was released to the regular desktop in april 2021 (https://powerbi.microsoft.com/de-de/blog/power-bi-april-2021-feature-summary/#post-14480-_Toc68689097). Unfortunately after converting existing shapes my settings in my custom json don't work properly anymore. Is there any updated documentation to this? This (https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/create-reports/desktop-report-themes#report-theme-json-file-format) does not help at all... I have a report which has been running for almost four years that uses multiple API calls to a cloud service to pull in several different data elements in both JSON and CSV formats. These data sources are on a nightly scheduled refresh and have been working just fine until recently. I noticed as I was asked to look into an upcoming modification that the refreshes are now failing with an error stating the credentials are not valid. Thinking the bearer token in the connection string may have expired, I opened my local copy of the report in Desktop and tested the connection, and it worked just fine. The only notes I can find refer to PBIRS not supporting Web.Page and Web.BrowserContents methods for scheduled refresh, but this connection uses Web.Contents, which is supported. The connection authentication is Anonymous as the bearer token is embedded in the connection string, and this has been working until I noticed this issue. Has something changed in how the Report Server manages these types of connections? It's imperative I find a solution as my client is somewhat anxious to have their reporting stay up to date, and will have an effect on the future development they are considering.1.4KViews0likes3CommentsCustom Theme Data Colors not in Proper Order
Hi all, I'm using PowerBI Desktop (January 2020) for Report Server. I have a dashboard that pulls flat data from a single table, with multiple data types represented in multiple visualizations, i.e. one visualization shows Research in Millions of Dollars from 2013 - 2018, one visualization shows Doctoral Graduation Rates from 2013 - 2018, and so on. My issue is that some visualizations also are showing 2012, but 2012 is now the darkest shade of blue, which is inconsistent with the rest of the visualizations having darker colors for more recent years. I was wondering if anyone could help me order these colors correctly. I've tried using a Conditional Column to order my color scheme, as was done in this post by v-lili6-msft, but it appears I cannot select Field Data Color, and then select Modeling -> Sort by Column. I thought this might be due to the edition of PowerBI I was using. Thanks!673Views0likes0CommentsRefresh on Report server with Web/JSON connection using REST and api token
Hi All, I am using a JSON web connection to bring in REST api data from Pipedrive, this works well on the desktop app but when I publish to the Report server the connection string only reflects the first part of the URL and not the parameters or token that I am using. Full URL: https://XXXX.pipedrive.com/v1/deals?limit=2000&status=all_not_deleted&start=0&api_token=XXXXXXX Is there any way to get around this to allow for scheduled refreshes on the Report server?
