Good day, After updating mysql connector to version 8.0.29, gateway connection stopped working. Error mesage: We were unable to find a database provider with invariant name 'MySql.Data.MySqlClient'. This error could've been the result of provider-specific client software being required, but missing on this computer. To download client software for this provider, visit the following site and choose the 64-bit (x64) version of, at minimum, 'MySQL Connector/Net': https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=278885 However, in this site have no 64bit version.Solved28KViews2likes15CommentsOn premise gateway logs - Dataset and Gateway connecton
Hello, We have a Power BI On Premise gateway server. I can loginto the server and run the Gateway Performance Monitoring Pbit file (Monitor and optimize on-premises data gateway performance | Microsoft Docs) which gave me information such as datasource type, the query executed, excution length. What I need is the Dataset name and who configured the scheduled refresh. When I look Gateway performance template report and notice some long running queries I want to inform the user of the dataset but I cant find that information. I may be missing something. The fields does not have any Dataset or user names. I thought this would be easy information to find but found out its not. How do you admins maintain /monitor your on premise gateway performance. Thanks,Solved7.6KViews0likes6CommentsRefresh one table only out of the many
I have a Power BI report with multiple tables in the data model. The on-premises gateway has been created and mapped. A weekly scheduled refresh has been created and it works fine. Out of these tables I have ONE table which needs to be refreshed daily while continuing to keep all the other tables refresh weekly. Is this possible?9.5KViews0likes4CommentsHow to best perform access audit on on-premise data sources?
Objective Can we identify which users accessed which on-premise data sources? Assumptions Both PBI Service and Report Server are being used for reports. Questions 1. Seems like the audit logs for PBI Service can return "ExploreDataset" events with a "User" attribute. Does this also apply to on-premise data sources? It shouldn't matter whether the dataset is on-premise or on-cloud, right? 2. For on-prem scenarios, does either Report Server or the On-premise Gateway have logs identifying which users accessed which databases? 3. For Desktop connections, users connect directly to the databases, so access audit should be taken directly from the databases. Is that right?3.9KViews0likes3CommentsData refreshing error: Power BI service shows data until a specific date
Hello Dear community, I have a Power BI report configured to show the last value, connected to an Oracle Data Base that stores new data each 30 minutes. On Power BI Desktop, I am able to obtain and show that last value with no issues: However, in Power BI server, the reports always shows the data of an specific day and date (12 January at 11:30 pm): I set up data refresh each 30 min and there seems to be no issue with that (Gateway is good to go and I am getting no errors when refresh occurs). I have tried deleting and re-uploading the report, deleting the gateway and manually refreshing the report from in the app but it seems not working. Has anybody encountered this issue? Have you any advice or solution ? Thank you in advance for your help! Cheers!Solved1.4KViews0likes3CommentsShared Screen Gateways Password
Hi, In my company the Gateways is managed and setup by IT consultant company (not same company as mine). In one of the gateways setup, I need to enter my credentials via shared screen session/remote session (most of the IT support we have is conducted via remote session). The scenario is the IT support have the Gateways setup in their desktop/screen. Later, he/she share their screen to me and share control with me in order for me to write my credentials in their screen. Everything is working properly with scheduled refresh using the mentioned gateways. The question: Is it safe and secure to enter my credentials like the above scenario? Is it possible that the password I typed via shared screen session being copied by the IT support who setup the gateways? (e.g. Ctrl C and paste somewhere else later). I tried to login to different websites simply for testing the copy paste password. I found that it is not possible to use copy paste as long as the "show password" is not visible. Since I don't have access to manage gateways myself, I couldn't test it myself. Is there any other best practice if the gateways is managed by other contractor (IT consultant company)? I just have some basic questions about this. If I publish a Power BI Desktop report to Report Server on premise, do I need a gateway for Azure Cloud data sources whether it is import or direct query or live connection? But a report using on premise data sources will be accessible if published to Report Server whether it is import or direct query or live connection, right? Also, I have run into an issue where I have tried to upload a Desktop report to Report Server and I got the following message: "We can't save this Power BI Desktop report because either it is newer version or has component parts that are not supported." The version of Desktop I am using is the one which I downloaded using the link from the Report Server page, so it is the same version. I tried to test uploading a very basic report with just a table, using imported data from a SQL Server database. Any idea what the component part which is not supported could be?4.3KViews0likes11CommentsGoogle Bigquery: Randomly Stopped Refreshing
Hello All, I have a pretty large import based Power BI dashboard running on a Premium Report Server. It is pulling data from an Azure Data Warehouse, a on-prem server, and Google Big Query. It was running fine and on a regular daily refresh until last week (ran the daily automatic refresh for about a month), when it has refused to refresh from the server. The server spits out the following error code: The initial generic error message says: There was an error when processing the data in the dataset. The details provide the following: Data source error: {"error":{"code":"DM_GWPipeline_Gateway_InvalidMashupConnectionString","pbi.error":{"code":"DM_GWPipeline_Gateway_InvalidMashupConnectionString","parameters":{},"details":[],"exceptionCulprit":1}}} Table: Insights_Analytics_Max_Session_Values. What is very strange though is that the power BI desktop version of it (even if you download the .pbix from the server) refreshes fine. So it is just the server that is having issues. All of the gateways report that they are working fine. I have also updated the Data Source Credentials for GCP/Bigquery multiple times, but the issue keeps occuring. Any ideas?947Views0likes1Comment
