6 TopicsNon-dashboard Resource Usage
Context Our administrator has created a dashboard that shows a count of how many times users have viewed Power BI dashboards in the last 60 days. The dashboard can be filtered by folder path, and includes additional information like "Latest TimeStart". It is very useful! Problem Only Power BI dashboards are in-scope to be counted. It does not count non-dashboard resources (such as Excel workbooks and Word files) that are also saved on the Report Server. Question Can a dashboard be created that identifies how often non-dashboard resources are viewed/downloaded from the Report Server? Thanks in advance!1KViews0likes4CommentsAdding a Role to Power BI Report Server
I need to create a role that will give our orginizational leaders browser access to all folders, dashboards, and reports. The documentation provided by MS is actually for SSRS 2017, which is not Power BI Report Server even if it was built off of it from a backend perspective. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sql/reporting-services/security/role-definitions-create-delete-or-modify?view=sql-server-2017 In Object Explorer, expand a report server node. Expand the Security folder. If you're creating an item-level role definition, right-click Roles > New Role. Or, if you're creating a system-level role definition, right-click System Roles > New System Role. If I open up the Security folder under the instance I have Server Roles. Under the ReportServer database I have Database Roles, and Application Roles - this last one is empty. Is someone able to provide some steps to properly add a browser role that will grant a specific AD group access to everything? To follow up: Is there a way for this role to NOT BE REMOVED by content managers?Solved3.2KViews0likes2CommentsReport Server Admin Security issue
I have posted this in the Ideas section as well incase it is a bug, but i want to ask it here as well. If that is no allowed, ill remove this one. I am running an instance of Power Bi Report server on a server here with the following versions. Report server - Version 1.4.7024.16477 (January 2019) Sql Server 2017 I have found a scenario where if i remove a user's System Adminstrator access, they are still able to access the "Site Settings" section oif the portal, and from there, can see all the sections, General, Branding Schedules and Security sections. Most of the pages take steps to secure itself against this, for example even though the user can see Branding, it protects itself against the users by hiding all the buttons. For the Security section how ever, these users are able to access the page, and interact with it as if they had the System Adminstrator role. I have checked the Reporting Database for the dbo.UserRolePolicies table and it reflects what is shown through the UI, so the non-admin users in the Portal also do not show as an Admin in the database. Is there some system config issues i am missing or is the a bug with security in the portal itself?2KViews0likes3CommentsCan no longer delete folder or report within as Admin

I am a System Administrator on my Power BI Report Server instance and i am using the out of the box roles configuration. If i attempt to move a users report from the home level to their personal "My Reports" folder, the server just hangs, and says an error has occurred. If i navigate to the user's folder (\User Folders\User XYZ\My Reports\) i can see their folder, and the objects there but i cant interact with them. Is there a setting that i can change to allow the System Adminstrators to be able to manage this area or is it strictly up to the individual users?417Views0likes0Comments
