Dear All, > I have a Power BI report server deployed on my local network. > The report server is running on SQL server 2017 and in the OS of Windows Server 2016 > My company has Azure AD already > I would like to use this AD to authenticate the access of report server > To achieve SSO by using Oauth I have read a document: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/consumer/mobile/mobile-oauth-ssrs But the situation is kind of different since he is doing it to a report server with a domain but mine is in the local network. What should I do to setup the authentication as Oauth and SSO?4KViews0likes1CommentDynamic Row Level Security using AD
Hello, I am trying to apply Dynamic Row Level security using the Active Directory. However, I am really new to the active directory. I have been searching to create hierarchy levels for each groups. I had followed the tutorial that I found here. I will be posting down the turorial link below. However, I was wanting to know, how do we create hierarchy levels for groups from there on? WHat I am trying to say is which columns should I be pulling in for the calculations? https://community.powerbi.com/t5/Desktop/How-to-leverage-Active-Directory-to-filter-the-data-in-Power-BI/m-p/140479/highlight/false#M60461813Views0likes2CommentsAdd users in basic authentication
Hello, I installed my evaluate version of Power BI Report Server on a virtual machine, then I log in with admin account and upload reports where I have roles. I need to provide access to users outside my domain, so I want to use basic authentication (it's the best way, isn't it?) defining usernames and passwords. I changed the RSReportServer.config file as explained at https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sql/reporting-services/security/configure-basic-authentication-on-the-report-server?view=sql-server-2017#main but now I don't know how to create new credentials and the only way I am able to connect is with my admin account. I read many things about security and roles assignment but I have no user to associate to one of my roles. Please help me. Thank you so much1.4KViews0likes0CommentsActive Directory User Logon reports without Azure (No Internet)
Hey guys, I currently have several reports that pull useful information directly from AD. However, I am specifically looking to get historical user sign-in data similar to the report shown on this page https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/azure-active-directory-meets-power-bi/. The only issue is that this is an offline network that cannot be connected to the internet, which I believe is a no-go for Azure services. Is there some other way aside from Azure AD for me to get this information into a report? A separate problem is that we have 4 Domain Controllers so replication of certain data can also be an issue.772Views0likes0CommentsUser Specific Reports
Hi there I do have a single report that can be fitted per location, we do have around 15 locations. So to share same report por each specific user y had to change values in a table in order to share to specific user only specific data, and 15 reports published I'm wondering if I can have just 1 single report shared, setup user and locations and present only the specific information to the specific user.Solved2.7KViews0likes4CommentsAD authenticaion on local Power BI server (with SQL 2017)
Hi, I'm trying to find how to set up authentication to a local PowerBI report server (allow those in an AD group). It seems all the documentation is focussed on running via Azure and doesn't translate. Because of the type of data we have, we're actually legally obliged to NOT use cloud services, and even if we weren't, I'd want to avoid it. I would also like the authentication to be just to the server - and once you're in, authentication to the individual databases and datasets is 'hard coded' within the reports (ie. not having to create 150+ SQL accounts for each user). I've seen posts of people complaining about having a login, but again, these are all Azure-based, and don't seem to be relevant to a local BI report server. Thanks in advance for any advice/directions.12KViews0likes6Comments
