5 TopicsVisuals Break with "Error Fetching Data" When Filtering by Date (Import Mode Model)
Hi everyone, I’m facing an issue in Power BI where visuals break and display an “Error fetching data for this visual – An unexpected error occurred” message whenever I try to apply a date filter (as shown in the attached screenshot). Here are the key details: The data model is in Import mode. The error appears specifically when filtering data on TransactionDate (or any date column). The visuals work fine before applying the date filter. I’ve already tried refreshing the dataset and rebuilding the visual, but the issue persists. Has anyone else experienced this issue or found a solution/workaround for it? Any guidance would be appreciated. Thank you!Solved4.2KViews0likes16CommentsExcessive logs in RS September 2025
Since the updgrade to version 1.24.9392.34333 the ReportingServicesService.logs generate GBs of data per day with default log settings. The issue seems that whenever a dataset is loaded it looks like every field entry is logged by something called [Report Walker]. Steps to reproduce - Have a dataset on the PBI report server - Open the dataset - Go to Data Preview -> Load data - You will have a lot of lines like these in ReportingServciesService_timestamp.log rdlenginehost!ReportServer_0-1!27a0!10/21/2025-18:06:34:: i INFO: [Report Walker] Processing ReportItem<TextBox>: TextBox_0003_FieldName1_ACDD4B78 rdlenginehost!ReportServer_0-1!2374!10/21/2025-18:06:34:: i INFO: [Report Walker] Processing ReportItem<TextBox>: TextBox_0006_FieldName2_9110D2DC rdlenginehost!ReportServer_0-1!30fc!10/21/2025-18:06:34:: i INFO: [Report Walker] Processing ReportItem<TextBox>: TextBox_0007_FieldName3_6E9D0731 rdlenginehost!ReportServer_0-1!2374!10/21/2025-18:06:34:: i INFO: [Report Walker] Processing ReportItem<TextBox>: TextBox_0007_FieldName3_247E481D rdlenginehost!ReportServer_0-1!27a0!10/21/2025-18:06:34:: i INFO: [Report Walker] Processing ReportItem<Tablix>: Tablix_E7DDBF00 rdlenginehost!ReportServer_0-1!fac!10/21/2025-18:06:34:: i INFO: [Report Walker] Processing ReportItem<TextBox>: TextBox_0006_FieldName4_80E62E7F rdlenginehost!ReportServer_0-1!27a0!10/21/2025-18:06:34:: i INFO: [Report Walker] Processing ReportItem<TextBox>: TextBox_0004_FieldName5_3BCA1333 rdlenginehost!ReportServer_0-1!2374!10/21/2025-18:06:34:: i INFO: [Report Walker] Processing ReportItem<TextBox>: TextBox_0004_FieldName6_37CA7C5F rdlenginehost!ReportServer_0-1!30fc!10/21/2025-18:06:34:: i INFO: [Report Walker] Processing ReportItem<TextBox>: TextBox_0004_FieldName6_5AFF6016 rdlenginehost!ReportServer_0-1!2374!10/21/2025-18:06:34:: i INFO: [Report Walker] Processing ReportItem<TextBox>: TextBox_0001_FieldName7_A42C1B49 rdlenginehost!ReportServer_0-1!27a0!10/21/2025-18:06:34:: i INFO: [Report Walker] Processing ReportItem<TextBox>: TextBox_0005_FieldName8_79E38078 rdlenginehost!ReportServer_0-1!fac!10/21/2025-18:06:34:: i INFO: [Report Walker] Processing ReportItem<TextBox>: TextBox_0001_FieldName9_86050404 rdlenginehost!ReportServer_0-1!27a0!10/21/2025-18:06:34:: i INFO: [Report Walker] Processing ReportItem<TextBox>: TextBox_0006_FieldName4_B332431D As a workaround we have set the log level for the Reporting Services lower. C:\Program Files\Microsoft Power BI Report Server\PBIRS\ReportServer\bin\ReportingServicesService.exe.config In the <RStrace> segment we changed the line <add name="Components" value="all:3" /> to <add name="Components" value="all:2" /> Does anyone know about a better solution without loosing some diagnostic information in the logs?Solved1.3KViews2likes2CommentsGuest User Access Restrictions: Semantic Model Settings and Report Editing
Hi all, Despite having a Power BI Pro license and admin rights to a workspace as a guest user, I'm unable to access the semantic model settings for dataset configurations and refresh, and I cannot edit reports in the Power BI service. a) What are the most likely reasons why I am facing these restrictions? b) What specific Power BI tenant settings or permissions need to be adjusted by the host organization to enable access to semantic model settings for a guest user in my situation? The last 4 of the SS are wrong on the form today 9/10/24. They are coming up as the first 4. I ran a report from 9/9/24-9/10/24 for our appts that we need to figured out if they are cancelled on both sides and I do this daily and never had a problem with the last 4 until today.930Views0likes3CommentsJanuary 2024 RS - Potential Performance Issues
We have been trying open reports we created in an older version of Power BI RS Desktop now in Power BI RS January 2024. We have noticed that some of these reports are taking longer to load the data and draw the visuals. Just wanting to know if this is a common issue for others.857Views0likes2Comments
