Highlighting table relationships with colored rectangles shapes in Model view
Many time it happens that single report can contain several tens of tables and model view looks to wide even if arranged so well. at a later date, it may be difficult to recognize what all they represent in the lack of some visual classification. I think it will be good idea to provide feature of adding colored transparent rectangles over the tables in Model view to show kind of group of process the tables represent. These may be kind of standard rectangle shapes seen in Microsoft word etc and can be resized as per user needs. For example just a blue colored rectangle user can put of a block of tables to show tables related to manufacturing process and a red block to show QA related tables. I can not attach a sample image here, otherwise I prepared one to clarify what I intend to say above.143Views1like1CommentThe 'content type' filter resets upon moving to a workspace page or a different report
Hi, On each workspace page, currently there is a Filter button is available to see relevant content type, for example only Reports or only Dashboards or multiple items. It helps when we have lot of content in a workspace. A snapshot is available here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1f1LK6MsNVgMRE8Z7IMYk5cx27TWFH6D_/view?usp=sharing The problem is, once we set a filter, for example to see only reports there and then navigate to a report and return back to workspace, our filter is reset by itself and now we see all content on the workspace. We again need to set the filter. Even if we move from one workspace to another in same session, the filters are reset. I would suggest keeping the filter choice till user resets the Filter himself. Please review this suggestion. Thanks.183Views2likes2CommentsShapes in Model view.
It would be helpful to visualize the data model more clearly, if within one layout, we can mark a shaded box. This way, we can group table of one category by say orders in red shaded box and receipts in blue shaded box. (within one layout in model view). Such box can be a shape, which user can just draw around table of his interest.81Views1like1CommentStatus of refresh to show on Workspace page in service
Occasionally, we see refresh does not succeed for more than one report. We can see last refresh datetime of all reports in one glance at workspace page. Yet, it does not indicate whether the refresh was success or not. Can you please add such flag of refresh success as well for all individual reports? It will help user to see how many reports have issues with refresh. I have prepare a screenshot to show as an example, but this is not allowed here. Thanks.71Views2likes1CommentAllow change border color of bars of a colustered column chart
Hi, I have 12 colors of a product and want to show related attribute to each color in column chart representing each column with respective product color. I realize that, at the moment, we can not control border of column chart. We can not see the column of same color of chart background. Currently, we can not customize the border color of columns. Can you please make this feature available. It would be a small but useful enhancement to PowerBI charting. My original problem relating above matter is on the link below: https://community.powerbi.com/t5/Desktop/How-to-change-border-color-of-bars-of-a-colustered-column-chart/m-p/1980546#M748931393Views29likes3CommentsAdjust Zoom slider start and end range data field in power bi service
Currently zoom slider can take start and end values either from the values when set in development in desktop (if set) else it will take start and end values automatically based on the data plotted on the chart. Use case - Incase of dual axis line chart, and used zoom slider for both y-axis, it may happen that line charts of both y-axis overlap each other, it happens practically sometimes depending the data value ranges are so different for both axis and both axis are set start and end range in auto mode. Can you please add a data input field with zoom slider to be used in Power bi service, so user have flexibility to adjust start and end ranges on the fly?49Views1like1CommentData size determination feature for Incremental refresh
I suggest to include the functionality to determine the data size for compressed and uncompressed data before publishing the .pbix file to service. Need justification - Usually incremental refresh shall be used for large size reports and currently, one can not know if his report fulfills limits of data size (1GB/10GB) respectively before publishing the report to service. Upon publishing the report, if data size is more, scheduled refresh will fail and user may have to multiple times publish with different 'Store' and 'refresh' periods defined in incremental refresh policy. As large report publishing takes lot of time to publish, it becomes frustrating sometimes. Hope some kind of solution could be offered.130Views3likes1CommentClose button on Power Bi Icon when launch Power Bi
In case I just launched Power BI and at the same time I change my mind to not open Power Bi now and perhaps close other unneeded program first or any other reason, then there is no option to interrupt the opening. As we know MS-Excel/word has option of closing the program by pressing x button on launch window. It is more needed because, Power BI seems to be a heavy application and sometimes before it opens, we remind ourselves to close other unwanted programs.97Views1like2Comments
