I would very much like the ability for the visual and/or SQL queries saved on top of the model to be available as their own entity and show up as tables that can be pulled into Desktop.
It's great to be able to slice the data with SQL, but if we aren't able to actually leverage them....then DAX integration is that much more important. I personally believe two PBI user types will emerge if both of these come to fruition, those who use SQL and those who use DAX. Whether that's a good thing is impossible for me to say with any degree of certainty.
I would love to see when using datamarts as a source in desktop, I'd like to choose which mode I'd like to pick (import/DirectQuery) since there truly are some limitations that exist in relation to DAX. This wouldn't be such a big deal if there was an easier way to bulk load DAX measures, calculated columns and calculated tables.
An external tool that enables you to publish a desktop model to a datamart, similar to the way json can be imported or uploaded to create data flows.
Very Informative session
With regard to Datamarts, where do you see DAX in the future if Datamarts will be using SQL?
Thanks 🙂
Thank you again for the presentation!
Datamarts seem to be a great add for it savvy business users or national analytics guys!
Will present the option to those guys!
Power BI socks are great too!
I have a deeper question on datamarts from my inchat on import vs direct query:
I have a complex report that imorts SQL, 80+ excel files and a sharepoint list, and uses Power Apps as a writeback for living data. The writeback excel file is folded back into the initial data table for multiple reasons (main being Power Apps can not query nulls - ugh) before it goes through an 800 line power query transformation and calc column transformation.
I'm wondering if it's possible to do this in a datamart, or if my current use of Power Query is the better way to manage (the work I've accomplished with the writeback and auto paginating derivative reports the bosses are thinking of more projects so wondering for the next round)>
Thanks!
Loved the clarification on Datamarts pricing. Still unsure of the exact target audience. I see pro ETL guys more like to use Databricks and SQL to shape data, and read data out of Synapse Serverless. Priya did a great job.
I love socks !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks again!
Great update. Looking forward to using the Datamart.
Great session today! Thank you!
Super excited about Datamarts! Would love to see a one-pager or the like and perhaps a product roadmap! (For those of us that are early adopters 😄 )
Welcome Everyone!
We are just about to start, so be sure to post your questions here.
We are also giving away Power BI socks today, just let us know what was your favorite demo.
I really enjoyed the entire show but the quick walkthrough on datamarts drag and drop was AMAZING!!!
