"File contains corrupted data" when refreshing data set on PBi Service, works fine on desktop

Processing error: File contains corrupted data.

My report refreshes fine on PBi Desktop, and get published to the service fine. Only when I manually trigger a refresh does it give me the above error.
Is my only resort to just rebuild from scratch and hope I don't replicate whatever is causing the corruption?

Hi  @gzimmer ,

According to my research, this issue can be caused by multiple reasons, you can have a check:

Core excel > 30MB
Excel has password
Permission issue
Corrupted model
Wrong type, error format, value issue, etc.

If you still have a problem, you can try these steps to find if they can be useful:

1. Please delete your desktop firstly.

2. Delete the Cache and CEF folders in the paths as below.

C:\Users\username\Microsoft\Power BI Desktop Store App

C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Power BI Desktop

3. Reinstall your Power BI desktop and try again.

Best Regards,
Neeko Tang

Hi @gzimmer

Can you please ensure that you have the latest verison of Power BI Gateway installed and see if that resolves the issue?
