Visual not refreshing for Viewer

Good Afternoon,

I had a Toggle visual in a report, which I changed to multi-select check boxes visual and then re-published it. However, the only current user viewer of this report is still seeing the old Toggle visual despite even after having re-logged to the Service. Itss not refreshed on their side.

On the other hand, I am absolutely seeing the updated slicer in the published report.

Kindly advise.

It sounds like the user is encountering a caching issue where their view of the report is not updating to reflect recent changes. Here are several steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve this issue:

1. Force Refresh in Power BI Service

  1. Manual Refresh:

    • In the Power BI Service, try refreshing the report by clicking on the Refresh button in the top right corner of the report view.
  2. Browser Refresh:

    • Ask the user to perform a hard refresh of the browser by pressing Ctrl + F5 or Shift + F5 while viewing the report.

2. Clear Browser Cache

  1. Clear Cache:

    • Instruct the user to clear their browser cache and cookies. This can help eliminate any outdated cached content that might be causing the issue.

    • For Microsoft Edge:

      • Go to Settings > Privacy, search, and services.
      • Under Clear browsing data, choose Cookies and other site data, and Cached images and files.
      • Click on Clear now.
  2. Try Incognito/Private Mode:

    • Ask the user to open the report in an incognito or private browsing window. This can help determine if the issue is related to cached data.

3. Check Report Versions

  1. Version Check:

    • Verify that the correct version of the report is published to the Power BI Service. Sometimes multiple versions may exist, and the user might be viewing an older version.
  2. Re-publish the Report:

    • Re-publish the report to ensure that the latest version is available in the Power BI Service.

4. Verify Permissions and Access

  1. Access Rights:

    • Ensure that the user has the correct permissions to view the updated version of the report.
  2. Share Report:

    • Verify that the report was shared with the user correctly and that they are accessing the right report.

5. Check for Report Caching

  1. Power BI Cache:

    • Power BI Service caches reports for performance reasons. Sometimes this cache might take a while to update.
