Visual is showing in PBI Desktop but not in Service - Couldn't load the data for this visual

Hello guys,

I have a weird issue and I've read that many others also had this but still I couldn't quite find a solution for me.
Yesterday I added a calculated date table to my report in order to calculcate the cumulated totals for a financial year.

The calculation in my report works fine in Power BI Desktop, but when I publish it to my workspace me and my users can't see the visual. It is saying "Couldn't retrieve the data for this visual. Please try again later."
I'am not using any kind of RLS. The only thing i've added in my data model is the date table.

Any ideas for this problem?

Thanks in advance!

Hi  @julianhoewel_95 ,

Publish to web does not support reports containing report-level dax metrics, which is a limitation.

You can use Embed a report in a secure portal or website. This sharing method supports Live Connection.

Hi  @julianhoewel_95 ,

1. You try to clear the filter on Power BI Service to be consistent with Power BIDesktop to prevent different settings on the filter.

2. Whether the data you add is added from power bi desktop or directly on the Power BI Service, if you add it directly on the Power BI Service, it may be affected by errors, this error incorrectly maps tables containing certain date-time data types to Power BI.

3. Try to change the date type of the column in the data source from datetime to date.

Hi,

unfortunately your points did not fix my problem, I proved all of them.

On the publish to web documentation (https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/collaborate-share/service-publish-to-web) I read at the point limitations that its not possible to publish "Reports containing report-level DAX measures". My report includes a DAX measure calculating the cumulative financial data per year, so this means that it's not possible to publish a visual containg a DAX in web?
Or is there any workaround to do so?

Best regards
Julian
