Values after updating Power BI Online are different from updating Power BI Desktop

Hi guys,

I have a problem with online updates.

I have a file in which the values when updated in PowerBI Desktop are correct, but when updating online (service) they are incorrect and apparently some relationships are lost.

My database is quite large and I use some reference queries for merging.

Has anyone been through this and has a solution?

This sounds quite strange and is actually impossible.

Does your refresh succeed in the Power BI Service? An explanation might be that there might be different data coming in but it does not explain any relationships breaking unless your column names might change etc.

You need to find out what exactly changes, then people might be able to help you.

Generally, when you click on refresh in Power BI Desktop, it is pretty much doing the same thing as in the Service (assuming you configured your data sources correctly and they are in the cloud or you have an on-prem data source with a gateway configured).

I have seen strange behavior in a Teradata database once where values would change every few seconds or so which lead to inconsistent results.
