Using the current tables as the source of dataflow

Hi,

How can I use some tables already processed in 'Data view' or on-premise 'Power Query' and as the source of a 'Dataflow'? In the other word, in building a 'Dataflow' I want to use my processed data  I already have in my Power Bi (either data view or query) as the 'data source'. I cannot find this choice in 'dataflow' sources. Any indication? Thanks

There is no connector for Power BI Datasets in dataflows as you mentioned. So, you cannot directly connect to any datasets which are already published to Power BI Service.

If you are just concerned about reconnecting to the source and doing all the transformations you have already done in a model, I would suggest you to copy the M Query of particular table and make use of Blank Query in Dataflows to load the data by applying all the transofrmations automatically.

  • Open the PBIX file which you want to connect to
  • Open the Transform Editor (Power Query Editor)
  • Select the Table
  • Right click > Advanced Editor
  • Copy the M Code
  • Now open Power BI Service and create a new dataflow
  • Select Blank Query and paste the copied M Code
  • And click on Load
