Using SSMS to refresh PBI tabular model in portal

Hi!

Any ideas what I'm doing wrong here?

I have a workspace in premium capasity. I used SSMS to connect to tabular model. When I try to process either any database or table within a database I get this error message. My desktop version is July 2020 and preview feature for enhanced dataset metadata, which is as I understand the V3 mentioned in error message below.

Could the problem be following: I have earlier created the report. Now I returned to switch on the new preview feature. So the query in guestion is now updated? Should I first enable the preview and then create a query from scratch?

Hi @GoingIncognito ,

Glad you found the solution.

To be additional, Power BI returns the following error if you perform a refresh via the XMLA endpoint against a model without enhanced metadata.

For details, you can refer to the following document.

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/admin/troubleshoot-xmla-endpoint

@v-zhenbw-msft

Thank you. One, hopefully last question:

GoingIncognito_0-1598343417405.png

When default compatibility level is, but at the same time a singular database level within it is as low as 1465

What should be updated? SSDT? PBI desktop? I thought July edition supported enhanced metadata format?

And enhanced metadata format is set ON as preview feature:

Hi @GoingIncognito ,

The enhanced dataset metadata feature is currently in preview.

Maybe you can refer this documents.

My compatibility level is < 1500 so that is the problem. Bummer.
