Using PowerBI for sensitive people data
Hi
Our HR department is interested in using PowerBI data for highly sensitive compensation data, however they are worried about people in data team being able to access this data. They dont even want admins to be able to access it.
Has anyone come across similar situation? How did you handle it?
I pointed out that admins always can access to data even files saved on sharepoint. They pointed out the thier files are password protected.
Its a fair challenge but not sure how powerBI would handle such situation.

You can use sensitivity labels, and Power BI integrates with Microsoft Purview Information Protection to allow you to apply sensitivity labels to your data. These tags help classify and protect data, ensuring that only authorized users can access it.

You can also use row-level security (RLS), which is implemented to restrict row-level data access based on user roles. This means that users will only be able to see the data they are allowed to view. Object-level security (OLS) can also be used to restrict access to specific tables or columns in a dataset.
