Usage metrics on Excel Connections

It seems like at this time power bi only shows usage metrics on reports and dashboards. What about users who are connecting via excel? Is there a way to show usage metrics on dataset so you know how many used the dataset to connect via excel?

    You can get this information from the Audit logs when you export them

    Hi, Anonymous 

     

    Based on your description, I'd like to suggest you use Audit logs. Users in the organization can use auditing to monitor actions taken in Power BI by other users in the organization. The Power BI audit logs are available directly through the Office 365 Security & Compliance Center. 

     

    Here is an example. When you input 'dataset', all relative operations will appear.
