Usage Metric Report
I have report that has multiple pages. I was wondering if I can somehow track what pages are being visited? I looked at "Usage Metirc Report", turned on "New usage report on" however visual on the bottom right corner shows me the list of users but under tab "Pages" shows nothing.
- Yes, the built-in Usage Metrics report is the correct place to check this, especially with the “New usage report” enabled. The important distinction is between Report Views and Report Page Views.
- Report Views are based on activity collected by the Power BI service, so they are generally more reliable and align better with audit/activity log counts.
- Report Page Views rely on client-side telemetry from the browser/session. Because of that, page-level metrics can be undercounted or sometimes missing due to network issues, ad blockers, firewalls, corporate network rules, or other client-side interruptions.
That explains why your Users tab can show data while the Pages tab remains blank.
A few things to check:- Wait at least 24 hours, since usage metrics update daily.- Confirm that users actually navigated between pages, not only opened the report.- Check whether report pages were recently added, renamed, or deleted.- Check whether browser/network/security tooling could be blocking client telemetry. So short answer: yes, page-level tracking is possible in the Usage Metrics report, but it is not as reliable as report-level usage. An empty Pages tab does not necessarily mean that no pages were viewed; it can mean that the page-level telemetry was not captured.References:https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/collaborate-share/service-modern-usage-metricshttps://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/collaborate-share/service-usage-metricsSimiliar solved cases:
