Upgrade to Power BI Pro message

We have a Power BI workspace to is accessed by many people within the orgnaization. Almost all of them have a Power BI free lciense and this is what it should be. Except for a few people who get an '...

    Hi renevdreek 

    Free licence users will be able to access content on a Premium Capacity workspace or an app built from a Premium Capacity workspace. If however, your content is on a Premium Per User or Pro workspace they'll get the "Upgrade to power BI Pro" message. (That offer can be turned off in the Power BI admin settings, and they will just get an error, no chance to get a 60 day trial licence). I believe they also get the "Upgrade" message if they have no licence at all.

    So check your workspace, and check the users have a free licence allocated to them.

Hi Stuart,

Thanks for your quick response. 

The workspace is a standard workspace and not a Premium workspace. As said: most people with a free license don't have this error and only a few have.

    Hi renevdreek 

    If it is a standard workspace,  Free users won't get access to it, they will get the "Upgrade to Power BI Pro" message. It's possible that those users that have got access have in fact got a Pro Trial licence which runs for 60 days, as they have accepted the Trial offered to them when they first tried to access the content. 

    Free users can only access content shared with them on a Premium Capacity workspace, all others need a licence.
