Hi,
Would like to raise a question regards accessing reports as Viewer (which means no access to the dataset and no rights to modify anything or even share reports with your own network). Did something have been changed in PowerBI? Since I am sharing my report now, as I used to do: share/ Manage permissions / Direct access / Putting user email (deselecting sharing and building content using data) and hitting send, they receive an email with an invitation and a link that they can press and access the report, but now whenever I do that I am getting the error below:
Any suggestions, since I do not want to add external users as Members or so (FYI, viewers can still view older reports, it is an issue with creating new ones). Thanks
Regards,
Matas
Matas: I'm curious if you were able to resolve this issue? I'm experiencing the same issue when testing out the external access report feature for the first time using Viewer role. Your answers back in Feb would be the same for me.
Hi @Matas
Please check your settings according to the following,
(1) Did this issue happen to only one specific report or all reports in Power BI service?
(2) Which data sources does the report get data from? If it's SSAS data sources, please make sure their email addresses match a defined UPN within the local Active Directory Domain. If not, please create a mapping role in Manage Gateways for them, see: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/connect-data/service-gateway-enterprise-manage-ssas#userna...
Please go to dataset settings of dataset, check if gateway( required if on-premise data source) and credential are set fine.
(3) Did any other person modify the report recently?
(4) Please check if you create any RLS role in the report, if it does, please make sure you have add members correctly under this role. See: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/service-admin-rls

Hi,
Thanks for your response.
1.This is happening to all reports when I am sharing reports to the clients with a role as "Viewer". Never faced this issue before, it started happening like from a month ago.
2. Report is getting data from SQL Server database and their emails matches in Azure Active Directory.
3. No, I am the only one who can modify the reports.
4. I have not created any RLS roles for reports.
Do you have any other suggestions?
Regards,
Matas
