I am trying to create a column that is an equation of simple arithmetic of other columns in the same dataset. However when I hit enter the following appears: "The result of a conversion or arithmetic operation is either too large or to small." What can I do to fix this? I have tried to rewrite it and restart Power BI but it does not work when the same equation works with other similar datasets.
Use ROUND () (Dax) in the variables you are going to divide.
For example
VAR Numerator = ROUND ( SUM(Fact[Costs]) , 2 )
VAR Denomiantor = ROUND ( SUM(Fact[Sales] , 2 )
RETURN
DIVIDE ( Numerator, Denomintor )
Hi @Anonymous ,
I ended up doing the equation outside of Power BI. Thank you for your help!
Hi @Anonymous ,
Is your data type ‘Decimal’? If so, you can change your data type to ‘Whole number’ or control the number of decimals. You can refer to this blog and this one.
If not, please give me more details, so that I can help you better.
Best Regards,
Icey
