Standalone Copilot - data interactions
Hi sba_ur,
Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft fabric community forum.
I would also take a moment to thank Shahid12523 , GilbertQ , GeraldGEmerick for actively participating in the community forum and for the solutions you’ve been sharing in the community forum. Your contributions make a real difference.
To answer your points copilot will never show data to people who don’t already have access, so there is no risk of extra exposure even if a dataset is marked discoverable. Since your tenant is in Canada but Copilot works only from US/EU, it will need cross-region processing if you enable it. For cost, it needs Premium or Fabric capacity F2+/P1+ and charges are based on capacity usage, not per user.If data residency is a strict requirement in your org, it is safer to keep it off until Copilot is available in Canadian region.
Kindly refer to the below documentation links for better understanding:

https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/fabric/enterprise/fabric-copilot-capacity

Hope this helps if you have any queries we are happy to assist you further.
Best Regards,
Harshitha.
sba_ur Correct, it is only available in EU and US. If you have data residency requirements then you should turn it off as specified here: Standalone Copilot in Power BI will be turned on by default in September | Microsoft Power BI Blog | Microsoft Power BI
Also, this is a good resource: Standalone Copilot experience in Power BI (preview) - Power BI | Microsoft Learn
To the best of my knowledge there is no additional licensing or costs.
