Shared Semantic model the user cant refresh the semantic model

Hi guys,

I need help about to share a semanticmodel/dataset. I have a workspace where it is my report and the access to the workspace is limited for the reporting team only.

Then this report, should be refreshed manually by other persons in the company. So i have given permissions of the report and semantic model (read, build, etc) to theese persons.

These persons can see de report in "shared with me", and inside the report they can go to the semantic model but here.. they can not refresh the model, they are able to see the refresh history only as you can see in the screenshot

How can i share a semantic model to a internal collegue to be able to refresh, not giving access to the whole workspace.
Other idea is to create a workspace for that particular report and give access to them... but it shouldn't be the solution.

Can someone help me on this?

Hello @dobregon1988 ,

you can create a report with a power apps button, that when clicked it uses power automate  to go and refresh the semantic model you want.

there alot of videos that would explain how to do  it here

Hi @dobregon1988 I differ from @Idrissshatila solution. Eventhough you create a power apps / power automate button to refresh the dataset it will only work when you trigger the buttons beacuse the system will still look for access for the logged in user. Since the user does not have access to the worskpace the power automate trigger will still fail for that user !. You might want to use an HTTP Trigger and use the link in a button to trigger it

Thanks @Idrissshatila i have found similar video yesterday and i was owrkig on that and today seems to be working. Bu tin any case it is not a good solution becasue if you have a report that takes more than 5mins to be refreshed, the person will not be albe to see the status of the loading ... can check in the model chcking the historic refresh.... it is good solution but... not perfect

@Jai-Rathinavel it was working with the following permissions (permissions to the person that need to see and refresh the report and without access to the workspace)

- Report: Permissions to see the report

- Semantic model: Permissions to read, build, compile, etc...

- Power Automate: Permissions to run the powerautomate
- Share Power Automate: Share to another reporting collegue in order to not be the only one that can edit the power automate.

Regards and hope this help to someone in the future
