Semantic Model Image in Settings

Hi,

I can't find any document about this settings. How do users (report creators) use it? Where does it show to them??

    Hi wanthanaj 

    The "Semantic model image" setting in Power BI allows administrators to upload an image that helps report creators visually identify a semantic model when selecting a dataset. This image appears in the dataset selection pane when users connect to a semantic model in Power BI Desktop, Power BI Service, Microsoft Teams, Excel, and other integrated applications. It serves as a visual aid to distinguish between multiple datasets, making it easier for users to select the correct one, especially in organizations with many similar datasets. For example, a company can use department-specific icons or branding to help users quickly recognize the relevant semantic model. This feature improves usability by providing a more intuitive way to navigate datasets across different Power BI interfaces.

    It looks like you want to know about Semantic Model Image settings in Power BI. As Poojara_D12 already gave you a brief on what exactly Semantic Model Image settings are and why we use it but as of now, there is no specific official documentation detailing the Semantic Model Image setting in Power BI.

    This image will appear at Power BI Service in Workspace List, the image appears next to the semantic model name in the dataset list of the workspace. And at Power BI Service in Dataset Details Page, when you click on a semantic model in the workspace, the image is displayed in its details view.

      I still can't see my image show any where in desktop or service. Would you mind showing the screenshot?

        Hi wanthanaj,

        If you are still unable to see the Semantic Model Image in Power BI Service after uploading it, these may be the possible reasons and follow these steps to resolve the issue:

        * Check Your License and Workspace type. If you’re on a PPU trial, this feature might not be fully enabled

           in your tenant. So, if possible, try using a Pro or Premium (non-trial) workspace.

        * Re-login and check in another workspace. Sign out of Power BI Service and log back in and then try

           uploading an image in a different workspace to see if it works there.

         

        If you still cannot see the image, please tell your workspace type (Premium, Pro, PPU trial, My Workspace, etc.) or the type of dataset you are using(imported, DirectQuery, or live connection). Also any error messages you see when uploading the image.
