New to the forum, but I have a question regarding the power bi admin portal and its ability to limit by security groups.
My goal with this is to limit sharing of dashboards to external users to just myself and one other in my orginization. I have gone ahead and created the security group with me as the owner and me and the other users as members. I have shared and app with a dummy user that I have access to to test the functionality. With sharing enabled that dummy user is able to view and interact with the dashboard no problem, but with the specific security groups enabled for the exteral sharing it only returns the power bi service with the flashing logo in the middle.
All of the users in question have the pro license applied to them within my tenant (as that is how it will work for customers eventually). Again the security group is set up correctly. So I am at a loss for what I am doing wrong that the end user can't view what is shared with the security group enabled.
Any help would be great.
Hi @kk0036,
I have a few questions about this.
1. Who did only see the flashing logo in the middle? The external user?
2. Did you share something with others or publish the App?
3. Did you enable the external sharing?
Best Regards,
Dale
1. Yes the external user got the flashing screen
2. I have done both, published and app and shared a report
3. My hope is that I can enable it just for a sub-set using the specific security groups function
Again all of the users have pro, the dummy user is external to my tenant (added in azure b2b area with assigned license), and the people in the security group are myself and the only other user that should be allowed to share externally.
Hi @kk0036,
I found this is a known issue. The workaround is adding the external user to the Security group if possible. I tested it successfully. And this issue will be fixed in about 27th Feb.
Best Regards,
Dale
