Scheduled refreshes

Hi ,

I have a DB that fetched data from SQL server and a few csv files.I currently refresh them manually and then Publish it on workspace. But sometime I face a lot of issue while refreshing the SQL server dat and it times out a lot also sometime it fails to even establis a connection with the server.

I thought of an option but not sure whther it will possible /useful.

What If , I ask the server on which my SQL server is hosted to host a gateway for me and we schedule refreshes by using that gateway.Does that help in improving the speed by any chance if the gateway is hosted on the server that has SQL server installed?

  • Hi ad8833 ,

It will help. The location of the gateway installation can have significant impact on your query performance.

Making your gateway, data source locations, and the Power BI tenant as close as possible to each other will minimize network latency. This will speed up refreshing to some extent.

    Best Regards,

    Icey
