Hi. Failure means that there is an error in the process of getting the data from source or the transformations involved. For example, if there is a renaming of columns at Power Bi and you change a name of an excel column, then the transformations might fail because they can't find the old column name. Another example if you change the file name.
If the data is the same it doesn't matter as long as it can read it and bring it to power bi. The refresh process will replace the data just read overwriting current one. It won't figure out there wasn't a change at all.
