Scheduled refresh

From Microsoft documentation: "Power BI deactivates your refresh schedule after four consecutive failures..."

Question: What practically means "failures"? I mean is it failure if there is no anything to refresh (so the data is exactly same as when refreshing previous time). So after all I want to know if it does matter if I put Scheduled refresh for example every hour - And if there is day that no one is refreshing data; Does it matter? So should I put the refrehsing daily, or can I set it every hour although there will not be changes every time?

Hi. Failure means that there is an error in the process of getting the data from source or the transformations involved. For example, if there is a renaming of columns at Power Bi and you change a name of an excel column, then the transformations might fail because they can't find the old column name. Another example if you change the file name.

If the data is the same it doesn't matter as long as it can read it and bring it to power bi. The refresh process will replace the data just read overwriting current one. It won't figure out there wasn't a change at all.
