Schedule Refresh was disabled

Hi,

It was weird that my schedule refresh option was disabled today for my 2 datasets. They are still accessible last week but somehow today it was suddenly disabled when i check on my dataset. I am unable to identify the root cause of this and just wonder whether anyone facing the same issue as well. The dataset can still be refresh when i click on the refresh button manually. By the way, i am the owner of both datasets.

Thanks.

Best Regards,

Roy

That solution does not apply to my scenario as my schedule is actually working for the past 2 days without issue. I am just unable to edit the schedule refresh as well as the data source credentials as both of the options have been grey out. This only started over the weekend as i was still able to check on my dataset setting last week without any issue.

Just double confirm this, do you utilize the Gateway configuration for your datasets on Power BI Serevice? If yes, you may not be able to edit the scheduled refresh and credential before you complete the Gateway configuration.

Not sure if it's the same scenario for you, just a direction that you can try.

  • We realized that this issue is somehow related to the desktop version used to modify the dataset. This issue can be resolved by upgrading the desktop version to a latest version.

However, due to the complexity of our dataset, we do not use the latest desktop version for our model as it could crash our datamodels that are used for hundreds of reports. As a known fact that PBI has a weak link on the backward compatibility issue, it will be a nightmare scenario if we try to revert back if we move our dataset to the latest desktop version.

I do not understand why would the MS team disable the schedule feature for users with older version of PBI desktop which does not really make sense to me. I hope the team can look into it and revert this change to allow dataset using older PBI version to be able to amend the auto schedule online.

  • Hi Microsoft Team,

I was able to perform the schedule refresh when the option was made available during the weekend and early this week.

However, the option was again disabled today and even the schedule refresh is failing for our all our dataset now. Previously, when the option was disabled, the dataset is still able to refresh automatically based on the original scheudule. Currently, the only way we can refresh the data is via the desktop and upload it.

This is simply unacceptable as we have multiple dataset that was set to schedule refresh once or more per day. Please kindly look into this issue asap.

    Thanks.
