Schedule Refresh PowerBi service and oneDrive

Hi all,

I have completed the following instructions to link my powerBi desktop with my one drive folders and files. This works really well and I can refresh the data when needed. However, once I have published the powerBi report to the service I don't appear to be able to refresh the report to get any new data on oneDrive.

I didn't think i needed a gateway as the data is online in OneDrive. Does anyone know if that is correct? I have attached a screenshot of the dataset information.Refresh.JPG

Hi @hellyLoft

Yes, gateway is not needed in this scenario. I followed the steps in the blog you shared and managed to refresh the report on Service without a gateway successfully. Perhaps you just missed something.

Below are my testing environment and settings. Hope they are helpful.

  • Power BI Desktop Version: 2.88.721.0 64-bit (December 2020)
  • Power BI Service version: 13.0.15022.68
  • Credentials Type in Desktop: Microsoft account
  • Credentials Type in Service: OAuth2
  • Source Code: Source = SharePoint.Contents("https://xxxx-my.sharepoint.com/personal/xxxx.com/"),

Kindly let me know if this helps.

This was probably a combination of a couple of things. I was on a very old version of desktop (I cant upgrade as on a virtual desktop). i upgraded and reentered credentials etc and published. This is now syncing.

thanks!
