SQL Server Import data source - scheduled refresh greyed out

Hello,

i am wonderinf if i coudl get some help on this please -

Data source - SQL server import mode - i am executing a stored procedure. (database on AWS)

when i publish the rfeport to the service i am unable to schedule a refresh or update the data set credentials as they are greyed out.

the error i am getting is -

Scheduled refresh is disabled because at least one data source is missing credentials. To start the refresh again, go to this dataset's settings page and enter credentials for all data sources. Then reactivate scheduled refresh.

i am able to refresh the dataset in the desktop.

is there something i can do to have scheduled refreshes without installing a gateway?

thanks,
Amrita

    Hi AmritaOS ,

As mentioned in https://aws.amazon.com/blogs/big-data/integrate-power-bi-with-amazon-redshift-for-insights-and-analytics/ you need to install a on-premise gateway.

Networking infrastructure that includes VPC, public and private subnets, security groups, internet gateway, NAT Gateway, and route tables

You may need to have a look at the Data Source Credentials in dataset settings. If it allows you to enter the credentials, then you would not need a gateway.

Entering credentials only in Desktop will not work. After publishing, you should enter the credentials again in Power BI Service.

Expand Data source credentials > select the source > update credentials.
