Remove explore Option in App
Hi Sri1999 ,
Inorder to remove or hide the "Explore" option in the Power BI app, here are some methods you can use, based on access controls and semantic model settings:
Set Viewer Role Only
If a user has only the Viewer role in the workspace, they will not have access to the "Explore" feature.
"Explore" typically appears when users can build or analyze data further, which Viewers cannot do.
Go to the Power BI workspace.
Click on the ellipsis, next to the dataset.
Select Manage permissions.
Make sure the user is assigned the Viewer role only.
Disable “Build” Permission on Dataset, even if someone has access to a report, if they don’t have build permissions on the semantic model (dataset), the "Explore" option will be hidden.
In the workspace, go to the Semantic Model (dataset).
Click on ... > Manage Permissions.
For each user or group:
Click ... next to their name > Remove "Build" permission.
Also uncheck “Allow recipients to build content with the data associated with this semantic model” if enabled.
Navigate to the Settings (gear icon) in the Power BI service.
Scroll down and select Admin Portal under Governance and Insights.
In Tenant Settings, look for the grey banner that says "There are new or updated tenant settings. Expand to review changes." Click the dropdown to expand.
Locate the setting titled "Users with view permission can launch Explore" (second from the bottom).
Click into this setting and use the Disable button at the top to turn it off.
Please ask the user who originally flagged this to test the change, but this appears to be the correct and logical approach.
Hope this helps,
Chaithra E.
