Refresh schedule not available for composite model

Hi all,

I'm encountering a weird issue: I have a report which connects to a shared semantic model as well as to an Azure Synapse SQL endpoint. The semantic model is a direct query connection, while the SQL endpoint uses import mode. This means that a local composite model is created for my report.

I have set the SQL connection to use a service account, and I can refresh my semantic model (the local one, created by the report) manually in the service.

Here's the lineage:

However, I want to schedule a refresh. The option itself is not greyed out, but when I expand it, the content is:

What is even stranger, is that if I add a third source to a local database (needing a gateway), I can schedule a refresh...

When I monitor Azure Synapse, I can see a query from Power BI when I manually refresh from the service.

Any clue is welcome !

Thanks !

  • I was able to solve the problem by creating a shareable connection to the underlying semantic model.

Not sure what the problem was...

    Thanks anyway SaiTejaTalasila !

  • Hi Tcherry ,

I think there might be some issue with your composite model what ever you have created. If possible try to create new report and load data without creating any relationships between the tables. And it helps in finding the root cause of the issue.

    Thanks,
