Refresh Schedule disabling after just one failure

Hi All

Normally scheduled refresh disables after 4 consecutive failed refreshes. However in one workspace I have, it's disabling after just one. Has anyone seen this behaviour before? I'm having to reenable the schedule almost daily at this point

Thanks

Tom

  • Hi TomCox,

You're right, By default, refresh disables after 4 consecutive failures : "Power BI deactivates your refresh schedule after four consecutive failures or when the service detects an unrecoverable error that requires a configuration update, such as invalid or expired credentials. It is not possible to change the consecutive failures threshold."

It may be cause by a credential error, Fabric workspace policy, or surge protection setting can cause it to disable after a single failure.

    Docs : https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/connect-data/refresh-scheduled-refresh

Hope you have fixed the issue and schedule refresh is up once again !

    Best regards,

    Antoine

  • Hello TomCox , as AntoineW indicates, credential errors will disable the refresh right away.  What error is being reported for the refresh?  This would be helpful to see.

Just an internal service error, which is nothing I wouldn't expect to happen occasionally. Credentials are fine

Thank you for confirming, TomCox . I'm glad to know it was just a temporary service error. If the issue happens again, please share the refresh history details so we can assist further.
