Hello friends,
How is it possible for a user working with Excel with a connection to Power BI Dataset (created by "Analyse in Excel") to trigger refresh the Dataset without having to open powerbi.com?
Thank you
Michael
Hi @Anonymous,
If the dataset connects to a live data source using DirectQuery, Power BI queries the data source and returns the result to Excel. No need to trigger dataset refresh on Power BI service.
In other cases, we must use Refresh Now option, or schedule a refresh for the dataset on Power BI service first, then use the Refresh All button on the Data ribbon in Excel to get the latest data.

Thanks @v-ljerr-msft
It is not a Direct Query.
The question is - it possible to trigger "Refresh Now" of the Data Set somehow directly from the Excel - without having to go to web?
Michael
Hi @Anonymous,
As far as I know, it is not possible to do it currently. Here is a similar idea shared on Power BI Ideas. You can vote it up and add your comments there to improve Power BI on this feature.
