Publishing succeeded, but the published report can't connect to the data source.

Connected to SQL database created a report and tried publishing.

The error says that the published report can't connect to the data source.

Please help me resolve the issue.

Thanks in advance 🙂

@Anonymous ,

You would need to configure Power BI gateway and add the SQL Server data source within the gateway. For more details, please take a look at this article: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/service-gateway-enterprise-manage-sql.

@Anonymous ,

Please install Power BI Desktop or SQL Server Management Studio(SSMS) in the gateway machine,  then check if you can connect to the SQL database in SSMS or Power BI Desktop.

I'm able to connect to the dataset in Power BI Desktop.

But getting the error while publishing.

@Anonymous ,

Due to that you haven't added SQL Server data source within gateway, the above warning throws. Do you install Power  BI Desktop and Power BI gateway is same machine?

Lydia

Yes, I installed them both on the same machine.

@Anonymous ,

You would need to add SQL data source within the gateway following the guide in this article. If you still get errors when adding SQL data source in gateway, please export gateway log here.

Lydia
