Hi all, I'm hoping this is a relatively simple solution.
I update a report every month, adding new data to a sharepoint site which is then refreshed in the .pbix. This data is then filtered to only that month.
I can set it to the new month using the filter no problem, but a user is telling me she has to update the filters herself in the service.
Is there a way to push my filter selection out to service?
Locking the filter don't seem to have any effet, plus sometimes previous months need to be referred to, and there is also a trend graph, so I can't strip out the old data also.
Hi @ergocorp,
May I know how you use filter to set your report to the new month? Did you do it in Power BI Desktop and republish it to Power BI service? Or did you do it in Reading or Edit mode of the report in Power BI service?
If you set it when you are in the Reading mode of the report, then the interactions you make will only be cached for you. But for other reports users, they will only see the original data of your report and the cached data after their interactions with the report.
But if you set the filter in desktop or edit mode in service, then the settings will applied to all the report users. To make sure the report data are the latest, users can refresh their visuals or their browsers.

Thanks, I build the reports on Power BI Desktop. On there I can set and save the filters. I then publih to a premium workspace.
One of the users has direct access to those reports (she doesn't have any specific permissions at workspace level), with read and reshare rights. She has to then manually alter the filters herself - any changes I make on desktop and publish don't seem to effect her.
Any ideas?
That is likely standard behavior. If a user changes filters these changes will persist until the user chooses to "reset to default".
Thanks, I have let the User know. Will accect what you put as a solution if it works.

Hi there, honestly I'm not sure. The user couldn't find a 'reset to default' type button. I suggested she try a few things, but something of a more urgent and pressing manner has arisen thaat means this has had to beput on the backburner for the time being.
Yes, you can do that from the pbix or from the service. Don't forget to republish if using the pbix. Don't forget to save your changes in the service. Don't forget to update the app if on Premium.
