Power BI sensitivity labels

Hello,

 

I created 4 labels in Purview to label the power BI content in our tenant. This worked. However, in the label policy I also included a default label. This label does not show up when I create new content or refresh excisting content in the Power BI webversion or desktop version. Is this a known issue? If so, what could I be doing wrong?

    Hi Anonymous ,

    It is possible that the default label is not showing up because it is an unsupported sensitivity label type in Power BI. According to Microsoft Information Protection sensitivity labels in Power BI, Power BI does not support sensitivity labels of the Do Not Forward, user-defined, and HYOK protection types You can check with your customer if the missing labels are the Do Not Forward, user-defined, and HYOK protection types. Additionally, you can run a Kusto query to double-check the logs if there are labels that are filtered/DoNotForward/Inactive.

    Hello,

     

    Thanks for your reply. I chekced the label and it is showing up in Power BI, but just not as default label when I upload new content to Power BI. 

     

    When refresh content in Power BI it seems to trigger the policy for the default label, but shows the error: "Sensitivity label currently can't be loaded. Contact your power bi adminsistrator for help". So I can choose the label manually, but it cannot be a default label. 

     

    Besides, I set the label as a default label in the Purview policy for Power BI. This policy is limited to an Azure administrative unit, but my account is in that unit so this should not be a problem. Besides, I did not limit it to a specific workspace. 

     

    The label in purview is simple, actually only a name and attached to Power BI, no encryption or watermarks.

     

    I hope this provides you with enough information.

     

    Are there other settings besides choosing a default label in Purview or maybe in Power BI that I need to take into account for a default label to work?
