Power BI report user usage
Hi community,
I recently published a report and found out the feature to tracl users metrics. I am wondering how the numbers were calculated. I shared the report individually to the reuqired users and published the report to a workspace which not all the users has access to that workspace.
I assumed that they either entering the report via the system email link when I shared, or access from PowerBI website through "Shared with me" on the left pane, else they bookmarked the report to their browser.
Are all the above route/access counted to user metrics?
Additionally, I read the below paragraph in the website. Can any one tell me what is “user owns credentials” or “app owns credentials”?
However, usage metrics don't track dashboards and reports embedded via the “user owns credentials” or “app owns credentials” flow. Usage metrics also don't track usage of reports embedded via publish to web.
Thank you in advance!

Hi Anonymous
With regards to embedding Power BI reports and dashboards (Including Publish to Web) this is currently not captured by the metrics because the metrics are actually captured by the users browser. WHich is not the case when embedding reports/dashboards. - v-jingzhangCommunity Support
Hi Anonymous
If you are using the improved usage metrics reports in new workspaces, all the above route/access to reports you mentioned will be counted to user metrics. You can also find the data for different accesses in Distribution and Platform part in the usage report.
Monitor usage metrics in the new workspace experience
For the second question, if you are a developer and embed report into your own applications or your customers' applications/portals, or you publish it to other websites publicly, these report access behaviors will not be counted.
