Does anyone know what "Power BI report subscription delivery - " has started appearing in the Subject line of subscription emails from Jan 29th 2026?
It just fills the subscription line in the email list, so you can't see what the email is actually about.
It also seems redundant, as the email comes from Microsoft Power BI
This just seems like overkill... Who's the genius at Microsoft that's getting paid a fortune to come up with needless changes, rather than focusing on the key improvements that this forum's members are screaming for?
Solved! Go to Solution.
Hello Team,
Is this issue solved already?
We are receiving today's subscriptions without the prefix from the start of the day.
Regards.
Power BI customers may observe that the subscription email template has been altered, and reverting to the original template is underway. An ETA for the revised version will be shared by the end of day on Mon, February 02, 2026 (PST, UTC‑8). Customers may see additional revisions to this template in the future and it is recommended to update processes to be resilient to these changes. We apologize for the disruption this change has caused. Future updates to this template will be communicated with notice so customers can update processes appropriately.
Thank you for putting it back. Please note the issue goes beyond accommodating the change and being resilient to it. What ever problem you were trying to fix, adding a prefix to the email subject and standardizing the heading in the body cannot be a solution even if you give us a heads up that you are going to change the template.
Probably better off sending that to Microsoft rather than sending it to me 🤣
Sorry about that. You said "we appologize". Glad they changed it.
It has reverted back to what it was within the last hour. 2 hours ago a subscription went out with Power BI report subscription delivery in the subject, 40 minutes ago one went out without it.
Please revert. Its confusing the Business.

Yes, I've spotted that, I've got some earlier ones this morning with the extended subject and some later ones with the old, standard subject line
Let's hope Microsoft have got the message and that it stays this way... someone should be having a disceplinary this morning, or maybe already has 😂
Thanks for your support everyone 👌
Hello @jimbob2285,
We appreciate your efforts and are glad to hear that the issue has been resolved. This information will help other community members who may encounter a similar scenario.
This change is so unprofessional & looks really bad. I see no benefit whatsoever and the whole subject line is now too long & nothing useful at the begining of it. Can you guys please give us an option as admins to remove this? I cant say enough how bad this is in words.
It is bad in two places, first the email subject starts with "Power BI report subscription delivery - " which makes it unreadable in a reasonable preview. This is even more exacerbated when using a mobile device. Second, the title is completely gone from the email body and replaced with only "Power BI report subscription delivery". So if you have similar emailed reports, it is no longer clear which is which. Please put in a correction to allow us to edit again or roll back completely.
I don't know what problem they were trying to fix, I have people complaining and I receive tickets about it....
Couldn't they just put something like [Power BI] in the object as prefix...
I'm not clear on what problem this fix was trying to solve. It uses up characters in the subject line that are visibile in Outlook and makes all the emails look the same. We have sales teams who receive 12 subscriptions daily and this is making it harder for them to know what to look at for the information they need.
Please undo this redundant fix.
This is such a bad feature.
Please rollback or provide an option to opt in or out.
Business stakeholders are very annoyed and it looks VERY ugly.
Looks like it got reverted now. My subject lines are back to the original.
Terrible decision, please revert! we have senior management complaing they can't differentiate reports in there preview emails any longer...
Hello @jimbob2285,
Please consider raising a Microsoft support ticket for further investigation. You can create a Microsoft support ticket with the help of the link below:

Part of the response I got from Microsoft:
While addressing an ongoing service issue with automated emails from Power BI, we have updated the email template used for report and dashboard subscriptions in Power BI.
With this update, all subscription emails will now include the prefix “Power BI report subscription delivery –” in the subject line. This behavior is standardized for consistency and security purposes and cannot be modified at this time.
We understand that changes like this may require adjustments on your end, and we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we continue to investigate and work to minimize customer impact.
Makes zero sense. Someone screwed up a firewall setting in MS and this was their fix that then burdened everyone.
Ugh
