Power BI from one tenant to another tenant

Hello,

My company started with Power BI on the tenant TestMyCompany.com and wants to move now to the tenant MyCompany.com

The gateway connects multiple sources (multiple SQL Server databases, flat files in our network, SAP DW etc.) with Power BI.

1.. To view the current tenant Power BI dataflows, datasets, gateways, workspaces, reports and Dashboard - what access do I need ?

2.How can I move the existing Gateway,Workspaces,Dataflows,Datasets to the new MyCompany.com tenant ?

3.Can this be automated by (Power BI Rest API or Powershell), pls provide some links ?

Thanks

Suvechha

Hi, @suvechha

1. You should be at least a gateway administrator to be a workspace administrator to view all content.

2. If you want to migrate tenants, it seems that there is no easy way currently, basically you need to do it manually. Because power bi only belongs to a part of tenant, tenant is a big concept, there are many resources, there is no way to directly copy all resources.

3. You can duplicate workspace via REAT API. Duplicating workspaces by using Power BI cmdlets | Microsoft Power BI Blog | Microsoft Power BI

You can reference the solved case: Solved: Tenant-to-tenant migration - Microsoft Power BI Community

If it doesn’t solve your problem, please feel free to ask me.
