As a background, me and my colleagues have several published reports that connect to several sources:
1. Salesforce Objects - OAUTH connection
2. Sharepoint - OAUTH connection
3. Oracle SQL Database - Company Prod Gateway
Prior to, approxiately November, we would rarely see any failures in any of our scheduled refreshes. Lately; however, reports are constantly failing, most often, using the scheduled refresh. The error messages are not consistent, so it is difficult to pinpoint the root cause.
Here are a few examples:
1. One report will show the error: "Invalid Connection Credentials" and point to a Sharepoint File. I will then manually do an on demand refresh, and the report will refresh fine (without any update/change to credentials).
2. Secondly, often, the scheduled refresh will often go for anywhere from 45 minutes to 2 hours. The same report, when refreshed on demand, will often complete successfully in less than 10 minutes.
3. Other scheduled report failure messages consist of: "Before the data import finished, it's data source timed out.", "Unable to connect to the datasource Undefined", "There was an error when processing the dataset - Timeout expired".
Another "clue" is that frequently, when I export the PBIX file out of Service and open it in Desktop, my credentials are still stored in the data source settings; however, it often makes me approve every native query, and re-enter my credentials.
Hi @NimaiAhluwalia I know this reply is very late, but were you able to find a solution? I've used the Salesforce connector but I had some issues from time to time. As a workaround, maybe you can try to test your connection with a 3rd party connector. I've tried windsor.ai, supermetrics and funnel.io. I stayed with windsor because it is much cheaper so just to let you know other options. In case you wonder, to make the connection first search for the Salesforce connector in the data sources list:
After that, just grant access to your Salesforce account using your credentials, then on preview and destination page you will see a preview of your Salesforce fields:
There just select the fields you need. It is also compatible with custom fields and custom objects, so you'll be able to export them through windsor. Finally, just select PBI as your data destination and finally just copy and paste the url on PBI --> Get Data --> Web --> Paste the url.
Hello @Anonymous
1. For that I would suggest to re-publish the report or input the credentials again.
2. This happens when your dataset in the backend is running or getting utilized for some other work, I would suggest at the time of refresh make the source free or change the time for the refresh.
3. You can also try the first and the second point.
