Power BI Service - Data concern
Hi guys,
I have a data-related Power BI Service question, hope you can help me answer it.
I have a PBIX report file that is being fed by a data extract (import mode) that is coming from our company’s SQL server. What happens to the data when I upload the report to Power BI Service? Do I automatically share it with Microsoft?
I am asking this because we would like to register our very own company account on Service to test newly built reports there but our Backend team has concerns regarding data confidentiality. We would use the online surface for functionality testing only, data source refresh would happen through Desktop.
Thank you very much in advance!
Best regards,

Hi, Anonymous
PowerBI is very trustworthy for data encryption and confidentiality.
You can check the document:
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/admin/service-admin-power-bi-security
If you are really worried, you can also use powerbi report server, the data is stored locally.
