Hi,
I have connected AD to the Power BI desktop to import all users and computer details but I cannot get data from the on-premises gateway. Could someone give a guide or documentation on how to set up the gateway for AD connection?
When I try to connect using gateway manager, throws an error with an incorrect credential. I am not sure do we need to have a special AD account with some permission to get data through the gateway.
On desktop connection, I use my domain account and there is no issue importing the data.
Kind Regards
Eranga
Hi @Anonymous ,
Did you try to add AD as a data source to the gateway?
You may refer to Power BI Data Gateway with Active Directory

Hi Caitlyn,
I can see you have the Azure Active Directory set up in the gateway. But I used normal on-premises AD.
Do I need to use Azure AD for the gateway?
Secondly, you use the powerbi user account to connect. does it have special permission? I used my credential and I have the right to view and add computers and users to AD.
Other than that, I followed the same steps.
Kind Regards
Eranga
