Paginated Reports - Required Parameter

The improvements in service related to paginated reports are great. However there is something newly introduced that causes confusion.

The case is the following - a paginated report with parameters, some of the parameters are with no default value (intentionally). When opening such a report, the users see just a blank screen like this

and they complain that the reports do not work. 

Is there a way this to be changed - the paramters "tab" to be open by default or a message to be displayed on the initial canvas? Of course the workaround is always to have default values for the parameters, but this is not a good solution in all cases.

parameters for paginated reports in the Power BI service is a Preview feature.

Parameters pane The report viewer toolbar displays a prompt such as "Required" or a default value for each parameter.

The link provided shows the old way the parameters were shown in the service. These days the visualization of the parameter panel was changed and the new look is confusing for the users (at least based on my experience). 

I'll mark your answer as a solution and hope the product team to make further improvements to the parameters panel

Update - since yesterday the service is changed and when there is a required parameter without default value, the parameter canvas is displayed (not a blank report page as before).
