PBI service failed to refresh SharePoint excel

Hi,

PBI service has suddenly failed to refresh SharePoint excel with an error which was working fine for last 6 month.

"information is needed in order to combine data"

however same is getting refresh from desktop file.

Tried with sample excel file with single column and two rows. It is failing for any excel file.

Column1

Testrecord1

Testrecord2

PBI service can refresh without any isssue if same excel file is stored as CSV.

Also tried SharePoint excel in PBI dataflow. It doesn't have issue. It's only occurred in direct connection oauth2. Some forum suggested to change privacy settings in desktop and PBI service to organization. But nothing works for any options

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

    Hi  Gugan_BI ,

Has your problem been solved? When I was conducting an internal inquiry, ICM 252542527 showed that the reason seems to be

"Issue is caused due to a regression when a feature switch'EimInformationProtectionExcelDataSourceInheritance, EimInformationProtectionExcelDataSourceInheritanceForPremium' was enabled.", now this feature has been disabled.

If it has not been resolved, you can try to publish the report to a new workspace.

    Best Regards,

Thank you. Issue resolved. PBI service can refresh SharePoint  excel as before without change in any privacy settings.

  • Hi Gugan_BI

Can you make sure if you are appending or merging tables that all the privacy settings are set the same?

A more complex work around is to have all the data in one table (meaning putting all the M code into a single table)

It's just a single table excel file for testing. It doesn't have any merge or multiple source. Tried all options with privacy settings...it keeps failing in service.
