Hello everyone,
I've recently migrated my reports from Report Server to Service and ran into a problem I could not find a solution to.
I want my reports to always open with the default settings (for filters, slicer, and other data view settings). I've found I can easily do that when I check the report option "Persistent filters - Don't allow end user to save filters on this report.". However, this option also has an effect on the "Share" functionality. Users would lose the ability to use the "Share" option in a meaningful way, since the "Include my changes" button would no longer be available.
So at the moment I see only two options:
- keep the persistent filters option de-activated: all filters from the last session would still be applied. Since I also want to send out the report links with full-screen mode (chromeless=1), the button to set the report back to default would not be intuitive to find
-set the persistent filters option: reports would always open on default, but the Share option including personal views and settings would not be available anymore (only the workaround using comments and directly selecting colleagues, but no general link would be generated).
Is there any other way to accomplish what I want so that the reports always open with the default settings (maybe some URL settings or other report options I haven't found yet) without losing the "Include my changes" option in Share?
Thanks in advance!

Hi @ChrisCBR ,
Thank you providing an update
Here's hoping that your idea will get enough votes idea so that it gets picked up by the Microsoft team for implementation.
In the meanwhile for any other issues related to Fabric please dont hesitate to make a post in this Forum.

Unfortunately, no solution that works could be provided.
As it is of now, the setting "Persistent filters - Don't allow end user to save filters on this report." changes behaviour of two features. We'll have to use a workaround using comments.
I'll add it as an idea but as far as I can see from former ideas this will likely take years even if it gets picked up.

Thank you for your replies.
Unfortunately I don't think that either of these approaches does what I need in my scenario.
Filter=All did not have any effect on the slicers that were manually set in the report. Is there some kind of documentation regarding the available url parameters?
Using a bookmark is also not feasible since mentioned reports usually have many pages (this is a necessity..) and bookmarks only apply to the page I've created them on as far as I know. Even if I would put all my data filters on a single page and use synch slicers to control for all pages, which would be a horror to maintain, it would still not work because I use the same field parameters with different contexts on different pages + I would not be able to control the "display" part of the bookmarks except for the one page I've created them on. Creating a bookmark on every single page to reset it to the original view is also not a workaround I would want for my reports.
Hi @ChrisCBR ,
If bookmark does not meet your requirement then I would suggest to share a suggestion in ideas forum with the specific feature that you require Fabric Ideas - Microsoft Fabric Community, where the product team actively monitors user feedback. Ideas with strong community support are more likely to be considered for future implementation. Posting there helps ensure your request reaches the right audience and contributes to shaping the product roadmap.

Hi @ChrisCBR ,
Thanks for reaching out to the Microsoft fabric community forum.
Utilize bookmarks to maintain a default view by configuring your report in Power BI Desktop with the desired filters and slicers, then creating a bookmark labeled "Default View." This bookmark can serve as a quick way for users to return to the original settings of the report, helping to simulate a reset function without disabling persistent filters.
With this workaround you can bypass the share functionality disability when you switch off the persistent filter option to a meaningful extent.

You can use "URL parameters" to open the report with default settings without affecting the "Include my changes" option. Append &filter=All to the URL to reset filters to default while retaining the "Share" functionality. This allows users to share their personalized views while ensuring reports open with default settings.
