Open data model greyed out?

In the PBI Service, I've created a Lakehouse, and then created 2 Gen2Data flows and published those tables to the Lakehouse.

But when I attempt to view the Semantic Model that was created (during the creation of the Lakehouse), the "Open data model" is greyed out?

I currently have a PowerBI Pro license through my work account.  Do I need a higer level of access or something else to open the model?

i will tell you the issue, in my workspace, it is not allowing to create a semantic model, so you have to either choose any other workspace for that semantic model to store(if you have permission to any other workspace, it will show in the drop down) or you have to create new one and choose that workspace, then you will get confirm option.
i did same in my workspace and trying to create semantic model , then it is asking to select any workspace and later selecting workspace, confirm option enabled.

’m experiencing the same issue where "Open Data Model" is disabled. I’ve tried both Fabric and PowerBI views, but the issue persists in both. I am the workspace owner and have an F64 license.

Please see the screenshot below.

Are you working in "My Workspace"?    The trick/tip is that you need to first create a new WorkSpace, and then craate your Lakehouse in the new workspace.

No, as shown in the image, I am not working in "My Workspace". I created a new workspace called "tut1_workspace" and set up the SalesLakehouse semantic layer. However, I am now unable to edit.

This problem had been a headache for days, the solution is simple. dont try to edit model from the report; go to the warehouse which you created to store the data in the semantic model, under "Home" tab, you will either see "Model Layout" tab, or you will click on 3 dots to expand, and you will see the "Model Layout." You click that, and you will be able to edit your model. I hope it helps someone fast!

Yes,

That was exactly the issue.  I was thinking (incorrectly) that working in the Lakehouse in My Worskpace along with the Gen2 data there, you would be be adding the new semantic model to My WorkSpace.

And then Yes, after I created a new workspace, I could then create the model and it saves to that new workspace.

Yeah,

I must be doing something wrong or maybe don't have the correct permissions?  I did create the Lakehouse though and that is in My Workspace.

Here's a screen shot showing I can't press confirm.

Thanks everyone for the help.  But I think I may need to try and convince my office to upgrade my license.   It seems that the 'Confirm' button remains also greyed out when I try to create a new semantic model name as well.  I've done the basic steps off giving the model and name and selecting all, but that 'Confirm' button remains greyed out.

did you follow this, if not pls follow..., goto lakehouse>>new semantic model>> giving name of new semantic model and selecting workspace>> select required tables>>confirm

Hi, the one which you are trying to open is Default semantic model which will create automatically along with lakehouse and it will include all the tables which are there in lakehouse, so default semantic model can not be editable, if you want to edit the esemantic model, you have to create one new with required tables.

Hi @ptmuldoon

There are a few limitations of editing data models in the Power BI service, please check the following link:

Edit data models in the Power BI service (preview) - Power BI | Microsoft Learn

To see which limitation is preventing you from opening your data model, hover over the Open data model button in the semantic model details page. This displays a tooltip indicating which limitation is causing the Open data model button to be disabled.

Thank you for this, my data violated a couple of  rules based on the list you shared, firstly its incremental data and involves been deployed in pipelines. So what is the work-around to this? I have tried all possible solutions and I do not desire to work from the desktop version but rather in service.

Hi @ptmuldoon - Verify if your organization has provisioned a Microsoft Fabric capacity or a Power BI Premium subscription. Contact your admin to check if additional licensing is required.Confirm with your Power BI administrator that you have been granted the necessary permissions on the workspace or Lakehouse. last , please check the workspace settings to ensure it is Fabric-enabled.

Test the feature with a Premium per User trial or verify the requirements for using Lakehouse in Power BI documentation.

Hope this details helps
