Open data model greyed out?
i will tell you the issue, in my workspace, it is not allowing to create a semantic model, so you have to either choose any other workspace for that semantic model to store(if you have permission to any other workspace, it will show in the drop down) or you have to create new one and choose that workspace, then you will get confirm option.
i did same in my workspace and trying to create semantic model , then it is asking to select any workspace and later selecting workspace, confirm option enabled. If this post helps, then please consider Accept it as the solution to help the other members find it more quickly.
Hi ptmuldoon
There are a few limitations of editing data models in the Power BI service, please check the following link:
Edit data models in the Power BI service (preview) - Power BI | Microsoft Learn
To see which limitation is preventing you from opening your data model, hover over the Open data model button in the semantic model details page. This displays a tooltip indicating which limitation is causing the Open data model button to be disabled.

Thank you for this, my data violated a couple of rules based on the list you shared, firstly its incremental data and involves been deployed in pipelines. So what is the work-around to this? I have tried all possible solutions and I do not desire to work from the desktop version but rather in service.
