Not able to select gateway

Hello,

I have a question about not being able to select the gateway.

To my understanding I have configured the gateway correctly and I also see the green checks, but I am not able to select the gateway itself anymore. This did work previously.  Does anyone have any ideas?

Hi @Dennis_Perg ,

It is possible that you have configured the gateway correctly and see the green checks, but you are not able to select the gateway itself anymore. There could be several reasons why this is happening. One possible reason is that you have installed the gateway with an admin account, but you are trying to access it with a standard account that does not have administrative permissions to execute installations. Another possible reason is that the ODBC connection string used is not in the correct format.

To troubleshoot this issue, you can try logging into the Power BI Service using the In-Private Browsing or in Chrome Incognito, so that you don't use the cached information. Then, click on the gears icon in the upper right and select Manage Gateways. Click on Administrators and add the account that needs to be able to manage the Data Gateway in the Power BI Service.

If the issue persists, you can try validating that the Data Gateway was installed in the same region/cluster and check the Data Gateway logs. You can also try selecting '(None)' from the Data Source Name (DSN) dropdown and pasting your connection string to 'Connection String' textbox under Advanced options section when adding a new Data Source under Gateway in your powerbi.com.

If none of these solutions work, you can try reinstalling the gateway and selecting the correct installation model.

Thank you.

Logging in with an Admin account did the trick.
