OnPremise GateWay error

I have a gateway connection to SQL Server on one server.

The server was changed, and the gateway was reinstalled and the Power BI workbooks published.

Since then, the gateway has been failing almost daily, and I have to restore it.

After restoring, the problem is solved, but it happens again the next day.

What could be the problem?

Thanks for your Help.

  • Hi pepmarti9991 ,
This issue is usually related to how the On premises data gateway is installed or maintained after an environment change, rather than a Fabric warehouse problem itself. The recommended approach is to first review the gateway diagnostic logs to understand why the gateway is failing, then ensure the gateway is running on the latest version, properly registered, and continuously running without interruptions. Microsoft also advises reinstalling the gateway using the recovery key, validating that the gateway service and data source credentials are still valid, and confirming that outbound network access especially HTTPS and required service-bus ports is not being blocked by firewalls or proxies.
If the gateway continues to fail even after following these documented steps, Microsoft’s next step is to open a support ticket and share the gateway logs for deeper investigation.

  • Hi Thomas

Thanks for your help. I've attached the log file generated in the path \AppData\Local\Microsoft\On-premises data gateway.

I can't figure out where the problem is. Can I send the log file?
