Multiple tenants

I have a client that wants to create reports in their tenant workspace accessing my semantic model in my tenant workspace.  Questions:
1. Can this be done?
2. Brief description of what has to be done.
3. Does it require Microsoft Entra?
4. If there is a solution, would my client be able to create an App from their tenant workspace that includes reports accessing my semantic model in my tenant workspace along with reports accessing their semantic model in their tenant workspace?

Any info would be appreciated.

Hi @JoeKohl ,
Thanks for reaching out to the Microsoft Fabric Community forum.
@Idrissshatila Thanks for your prompt response.
In addition to @Idrissshatila  let me add one more insights for the above query :

  • Yes, it is possible to create reports in your tenant's workspace that access a semantic model in cilent tenant's   workspace, but this requires specific permissions.
  • You will need to establish a connection between the two tenants for data sharing. Proper permissions must    be configured to ensure secure access to the data model from your workspace. If the data source is           on-premises, an on-premises data gateway will be required.
  • Using Microsoft Entra (Azure AD) will help ensure that the necessary authentication and authorization mechanisms are in place for secure access to the semantic model.
  • Yes, once the appropriate connections and permissions are established, you will be able to create an app in your tenant's workspace that includes reports from both your semantic model and your client's semantic model.

Hi @JoeKohl

Here’s a short explanation for your client's scenario:

  1. Can this be done?
Yes, by enabling cross-tenant access using Azure B2B collaboration.

  2. What needs to be done?

    • Add the client as guest users in your Azure AD (Microsoft Entra).
    • Share your semantic model (dataset) with the client.
    • Ensure permissions are set and the dataset supports Live Connection.
  3. Does it require Microsoft Entra?
Yes, for managing guest user access and authentication.

  4. Can the client create an App combining reports from both tenants?
Yes, they can create an app with reports using your semantic model and their own, provided cross-tenant sharing and Live Connection are configured correctly.

Power BI Premium or Premium Per User (PPU) is required for cross-tenant dataset sharing.
