Legend Issue when exporting to PDF from Power BI Service

Hi All,

I am new to Power BI and just learning how to use the Power BI Service. I published a report successfully. But when my Manager is trying to export a PDF version of the report, the legend colors for a chart is automatically changing to some black/dark colors.

For example - In a stacked bar chart I have sales data for two regions, one with a Dark Blue color and another which is Grey color and the legend for these two regions is showing the correct color.

When exporting to PDF, the report looks fine. However, the legend in the stacked chart is showing up as same Black/Dark color for both these regions.

Is there some setting I need to change before exporting to PDF or are certain colors not supported while exporting?

Please let me know if there is a solution for this.

Thanks in advance.

Hi @Anonymous ,

I did not reproduce your problem,
Are you sure that no one else in the workspace edits and saves your report?
Does the report in the workspace have this problem, or does the PDF file just have this problem?

Hi @Anonymous ,

This is very strange, can you provide screenshots in Desktop and screenshots in Service?
In addition, what is the version of your Desktop?

Best regards,
Lionel Chen

Hi @v-lionel-msft ,

Using Power BI Desktop Version: 2.83.5894.822 64-bit (July, 2020)

After some more experimenting while exporting to PDF, I noticed that the legend issue is only for the bars in the 'Line and Column Chart'. But for other charts like 'Stacked Column Chart' or 'Pie Chart' it is not an issue.

Here are some screen shots

Original Line and Column Chart (In Power BI Desktop Legend looks fine)

Original Combo Chart in Power BI DesktopOriginal Combo Chart in Power BI Desktop

Export PDF Line and Column Chart (Issue with Legend here for the bars)

Export PDF Stacked Column Chart (No issue with Legend here)

Hi @v-lionel-msft ,

Thanks for looking into it. The issue was only with the PDF export from Power BI service.

I checked again recently and issue seems to have been resolved. I will check with my team if they did something to fix it.

Thanks again.
